Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect information such as your username, profile details, and avatar. If you sign in using phone OTP, we collect your phone number. We may also store optional fields you provide such as gender, age/date of birth, country code, verification status, and subscription type.

Connect Video Chat Data

For our Connect video chat feature, we process video/audio streams in real time and store session metadata such as session start/end times, duration, room identifiers, connection status, coin usage, and the matching preferences you choose to provide (for example gender preference and age range). We do not store your raw video/audio streams as recordings by default.

Gaming & Performance Data

We collect game progress and gameplay statistics such as scores, levels, wins/losses, tournament/event participation, and virtual coin transactions to provide gameplay features, leaderboards, challenges, events, and rewards.

Device & Technical Information

We collect technical and diagnostic information such as device type, operating system, app version, and app performance/debug logs to keep the app reliable and secure. When you connect to our services, our servers and service providers may also process network identifiers such as your IP address as part of normal internet communications, security, and abuse prevention.

Messaging & Social Data

We store chat messages and related metadata (such as timestamps, conversation membership, and read status) and friend connections/requests to provide real-time messaging and social features.

User Content & Uploads (Optional)

If you choose to upload content (for example, sending media/files in chat), we store the uploaded file in our storage and store a reference (URL/path) to it in our database. You control whether you submit this content.

Contacts (Optional)

If you grant contact permission, we may access your device contacts to help you find friends more easily. You can use the app without granting contact access.

Advertising Data (If Enabled)

If ads are enabled in your version of the app, we use Google AdMob/Google Mobile Ads to serve and measure ads (including rewarded ads). Google and its partners may collect or receive device identifiers (such as the Advertising ID on Android), approximate location derived from IP address, and other signals to provide and measure ads, and to help detect fraud/abuse. You can control ad personalization through your device settings where available.

How We Use Your Information

Connect Video Chat Services

We use your information to facilitate matching, establish and maintain video chat sessions, manage session duration, and process in-app coin usage related to Connect sessions.

Gaming & Entertainment

We use your data to provide game services, maintain your account, enable multiplayer functionality, manage tournaments/events/challenges, and deliver core gameplay features.

Social & Communication

We use messaging data to provide real-time chat, friend connections, group features, and social gaming experiences.

Analytics & Improvement

We analyze gameplay data, user behavior, and app performance to improve game balance, fix bugs, develop new features, and enhance the overall user experience.

Monetization & Advertising

We use data to manage virtual currency (coins) and rewards, and (if enabled) deliver ads and rewarded video opportunities for coin earnings. If paid features are enabled in your version of the app, purchase processing is handled through the applicable platform and providers.

Video Chat Processing

Video and audio streams are processed in real time using our communications infrastructure (for example LiveKit/WebRTC). Streams are used to provide the live session. We do not store your raw video/audio streams as recordings by default.

Matching & Preferences

We use the preferences you choose to provide (such as gender preference and age range) to facilitate more relevant matches. These preferences are optional and are not required to use core gaming features.

Session Management

We store session metadata such as duration, connection status, room identifiers, and basic technical metrics (for example, latency) to operate and improve the service and to help prevent abuse.

Safety & Moderation

Users can report inappropriate behavior. We may review reports and associated metadata to investigate abuse, prevent fraud, and protect user safety.

Face Data & Age Assurance

What we collect

The Fiktion app itself does not capture, transmit, or store any raw face data, image data, video data, or biometric template. Face data is captured exclusively by Didit, our third-party age-assurance provider, on a hosted page that opens in your device's system browser when you initiate the Verify Age flow. The Fiktion application binary does not have access to camera frames, captured selfies, or the resulting biometric template at any point.

How it is used

Face data is used by Didit for a single purpose: to perform a real-time selfie liveness check confirming a real, present person is present, and to estimate that the person meets the age threshold required to access age-restricted features such as Connect live video chat. Face data is not used by Fiktion or by Didit (on our behalf) for advertising, behavioral profiling, training of machine-learning models, account login, identification across sessions, or any secondary purpose.

Sharing and storage

Face data is shared only with Didit (Didit Inc., didit.me) acting as our data processor for age assurance. It is not shared with any other third party. The face data is processed and stored within Didit's own infrastructure; it does not transit through, and is not stored within, Fiktion's infrastructure. From the verification flow, Fiktion receives back from Didit only a verification result (a boolean pass/fail), an opaque session identifier, and a timestamp.

Retention

Fiktion does not retain face data, since we never receive it. The verification result, session identifier, and timestamp returned to us are stored on the user record for the lifetime of the user's account or until the user requests account deletion, whichever is sooner. Retention of the face data itself by Didit is governed by Didit's own privacy policy and biometric data handling practices, which the user reviews and consents to on Didit's hosted page before performing the check.

User control

The Verify Age flow is entirely optional and is only initiated by an explicit user action. Users may use the rest of the Fiktion app without performing age assurance. If a user wishes to revoke their verification, they can request account deletion through the app or by contacting us at connect@fiktion.llc.

Information Sharing & Disclosure

Service Providers

We use trusted service providers to operate the app. This includes Supabase (authentication, database, and storage), Twilio (delivery of phone one-time passwords for sign-in), communications infrastructure for video/audio (for example LiveKit/WebRTC), multiplayer infrastructure (for example Photon for certain real-time games/events), RevenueCat (in-app purchase and subscription management on top of Apple App Store and Google Play billing), Didit (a third-party identity-verification provider used for age assurance via a hosted selfie liveness check for users who request access to age-restricted features such as Connect video chat), and (if enabled) advertising partners such as Google AdMob/Google Mobile Ads. These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the services and are bound by their own privacy practices and our agreements with them.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, to protect our rights, prevent fraud, ensure user safety, or respond to valid legal requests from law enforcement.

User Safety

We may share information to prevent harm, investigate violations of our terms, or protect the safety of our users and the community.

Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of the business transaction, subject to the same privacy protections.

Data Security & Protection

Encryption & Security

We use industry-standard safeguards such as encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and security monitoring designed to protect your information.

Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account. We recommend using strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication when available, and not sharing your account credentials.

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services, comply with legal obligations, and protect user safety. We do not store raw video/audio streams as recordings by default. If you request deletion, we will delete or de-identify personal data within a reasonable timeframe where feasible, but we may retain certain records (including fraud/safety logs and backups) where required or permitted by law.

Children's Privacy

Our services are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Certain features (such as video chat) may require additional age restrictions and/or age verification. If we become aware that we collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it.

Your Rights & Choices

Access & Control

You have the right to access, update, or delete your personal information. You can modify most information through your account settings or by contacting our support team.

Data Portability

You may request a copy of your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe, subject to verification and applicable law.

Marketing Preferences

If we send you promotional communications, you can opt out using the instructions provided in that communication or through in-app settings where available.

Connect Preferences

You can control your Connect video chat preferences, including who can match with you, session duration, and privacy settings through the app's Connect settings.

Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account through the app (if available) or by contacting us. Account deletion is intended to remove your personal data, but some information may be retained where required for legal compliance, fraud prevention, security, and safety.
